Andy arrived back safe and sound at the end of April 2011 from his great trek to the North Pole. That’s pretty cool (or cold) you may be thinking, a different place to visit…..
Andy did the trip together with a team from Adventure Dynamics, who specialize in extreme sports – they climb high mountains, trek to very cold places – in fact, the more extreme, the better!
The team spent a total of 8 days on the Polar Ice Cap where the temperatures ranged from -20 through to -40ºC!! Fortunately the team was extremely strong, thanks to all that training! The weather also played along, with no strong head winds making appearances – this ensured the guys were able to make very good time on most of the days.
Six days of consecutive skiing between 9,5 and 10,5 hours per day in the extreme cold was quite tiring for the guys but definitely something they could take in their stride!

On Friday 22 April just before 1pm the team reached the North Pole well ahead of schedule!! Sean Disney and Vaughn de la Harpe were the first South Africans to achieve the Grand Slam!
Congratulations to the entire Team Adventure Dynamics!
